Wow! I can’t believe it’s really here. Tomorrow morning, my pie assistants, Duncan and Robin and I, leave on the very first Pie A la Road Trip to California. We’re packing the car as I type this, double-checking our lists of equipment and supplies, addresses and directions to each of 8 locations from Danville to Marina Del Rey, and hoping that we haven’t forgotten anything. I guess it wouldn’t be too much of a problem though as there are stores in California, yes?
We’re excited but I’ll be sad to leave Gretapie behind. She will be at the best doggie B&B in the world! It’s a good sign when your special four-legged friend can’t wait to get out of the car to meet all of her other friends at “The Ranch”. When I pick her up, she is so happy to see me, but I also know if she could talk she would be saying “I had such a good time, Mom! When can I come back?”.
From what I hear, Spring is in full tilt mode and we’re looking forward to making pies with the best fruit available on our travels! Can you say Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie?
I may miss the bulb blossom bloom at Pie Cottage. The daffodils are so close to opening I can just feel it. Maybe they’ll open as a farewell for tomorrow.
