Colorful Salmonberries are ripe in the Northwest in early to mid-summer. Tart to slightly sweet, in vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red, they make a wonderful addition to any mixed-berry pie.
It really isn’t a pie plant. That honor goes to rhubarb. But after making this pretty strawberry rhubarb pie this afternoon, I couldn’t resist! The pie is “planted” in my Shuksan strawberry patch.
