Pie Camp is Hot

Pie Camp is Hot!

Believe me when I tell you that I had no idea that Pie Camp May 2013 would sell out in 90 minutes but that is just what happened!

Just Picked Sour Pie Cherries for a Pie

Cherry Pie!The “green light” switched on at 8AM December 6th. My mouth just about dropped open…well, it actually did drop open…at 8:10AM when I looked to see if anyone had registered for one of the 20 spots available.

Anyone? When I looked, there were only 7 left…then I refreshed the screen and there were only 5! Unbelievable! I made my self a cup of chamomile tea to steady myself. And, by 9:30AM all spots were gone. Wow! Pie Camp is HOT!

Since the May 2013 Pie Camp filled up so fast, I’m happy to say that I will be announcing dates for another Pie Camp!  The details will be coming hopefully by next week so if you had your heart set on gifting a friend, family member or yourself with this 4-day experience and thought you had totally missed out, there will be another chance.

Also, I’ve added two more Art of the Pie Workshops to the Winter Schedule at Pie Cottage in Port Angeles, WA. Making pie is a lifetime skill and a wonderful gift to give.
January 12 Noon
February 9 Noon

I’ll also be heading to Montana to teach at The Resort at Paws Up October 11-14, 2013. More details on that will be coming too.

If you are looking for pie related gift ideas, how about a homemade pie making kit that you put together with just a quick trip to the grocery store.

Your baker will want to run right to the kitchen and make a pie. You can put in:

  • a Pyrex pie pan (9″ deep dish or shallow)
  • some parchment paper or a pastry cloth for rolling
  • a wooden spoon
  • a big bowl for mixing
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • new kitchen towels
  • an apron if there is a cute one at hand
  • some spices—try cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice
  • a rolling pin (My favorite is a Fletcher’s Mill (formerly Vic Firth) double ended French model but quite frankly, ANYTHING will work—even a wine bottle!)

Would love to have you there. I’ll be posting something this week with more info about the Montana Upper Crust Camp at Paws Up.
