Art of the Pie Day
The Art of the Pie official book release day is tomorrow October 4th—kind of a birthing day for me. I’m hearing from some that their books have already shipped and they will be receiving them tomorrow. Folks are posting photos of book sightings in places as far a field as Andover and Martha’s Vineyard, Tucson, Danville, and Washington DC! All of this is beyond ANYTHING that I could have ever imagined. If you see a book out in your travels at a bookstore, I would be very honored if you might take a photo of it and post it to Facebook with the tag #artofthepiewild. I love to see where they are!
Because some purchased Art of the Pie through the special offer on QVC—which if I didn’t tell you sold 8000 books—5600 during the 7 minutes I was on the air during In the Kitchen with David and the remaining after—it may have already been received.
Pre-broadcast: ART OF THE PIE ranked at #31,814 in books on Amazon and Post-broadcast it had an Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #35 in Books (that’s all books on Amazon!)

Pie seems to transcend all boundaries and reach all ages around the world. I love being a practitioner of the craft and my hope is that this book will reach more people than I ever could in my Art of the Pie® workshops and Pie Camp® so that more will don their aprons, pick up their rolling pins and make pie!
Saturday, Duncan and I travelled to the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Fall Tradeshow with ten, count ’em, ten freshly baked pies to serve up at a special Sweet & Greet event. Duncan handled the sweet slicing and serving, and I handled the greet. During the two-hour event we were so busy that we weren’t able to get a photo of the line of booksellers and librarians that snaked around the room. We were told that the line was at a steady 200 ALL night long during the 2 hour event and yes, we ran out of books and pie!
Today an article came out in Bon Appetit online with instructions for the gluten free no-bake crust—one of the many crusts featured in the book. It’s my first time writing for Bon Appetit, too. 🙂 And last week I was online at Cosmo! Me? Never in a million years would I have expected to say I am a Cosmo girl.
And tomorrow…I’ll be getting ready to be back out on the Pie-Way. I’m heading to Montana to teach at the 5th year of Upper Crust Pie Camp at The Resort at Paws Up with Mindy Segal (cookies) and Ken Forkish (pizza). And in the meantime I’m doing all the usual things I do at Pie Cottage—getting ready for the first wood stove fire of the season, washing my floors which seems to be a never ending chore when you are a pie maker, and walking my sweet Gretapie.
Don’t forget to post your pics of where you see the book with #artofthepiewild on Facebook!
