Announcing Art of the Pie, the Book
March 14, 2015 is being called “Pi Day of the Century” as in the mathematical sequence for Pi that begins 3.1415926 and goes on forever. I’d like to take this once in a lifetime opportunity to announce to you that my very first book, Art of the Pie: A Down to Earth, Homemade, Practical Guide to Artisan Pie Making and Life is to be published by Countryman Press in the Fall of 2016.

Reinventing myself as a soon to be published author is something I never expected! My days at Pie Cottage always full of baking are now expanded to include lots of time for writing. I’m learning that writing is a discipline and takes passion, patience, and dedication. I’ve already experienced moments of the infamous writer’s block–I can find every excuse imaginable and then some, like making just one more pie for a pie-by, before I sit down to write. But I am honestly thrilled and excited and I invite you to follow along with me here on my blog as I navigate through this next reinvention of myself. I continue to be amazed and grateful for this wonderful life in Pie and for your following also. So with much gratitude on this Pi Day of the Century let’s all Be Happy and Make Pie!
Congratulations Kate- can’t wait to see your Book! Congratulations! Happy the oven situation improved and was taken care of! Janet
Thank you so much Janet! I’m relieved that my oven is “humming” along in a good way. 😉
Wonderful news, Kate. The world will be a better place with your pie book in it.
As for your knack of stalling before you get down to the business of writing – join the club. We all do it. It’s called resistance, and as the Dali Lama says: “Resistance is the enemy. The enemy is a very good teacher.”
Best wishes,
Ken
Thanks for the good words and advice, Ken!
HI Kate,
Congratulations on your future book! As I have experienced your expertise at teacher and mentor of pie-making at Pie Class, I anticipate your authorship to be enticing, imaginative and thorough. I so look forward to holding your book in my hands, and exploring the pages of Pie! I’ll be asking for your autograph!
Sherry
Thank you Sherry! I’ll do my very best in hopes that my book will meet up to your expectations. 🙂
Hello! Was just on a walk, with a friend, and met a lovely couple from Washington. We shared with them that there is a local Growers Market here in Medford and that got us started talking about food…and then pie…They told us about you and your book! And, that is why I am looking up information about it. Sounds delightful and I am anxious to see it! So… just felt like leaving a message for you to say that word is spreading about your book!
Thank you so much for letting me know Pamela! I hope you like it and that you make many pies with wonderful fruit from your local market. Be Happy, Make Pie!
