Today I’m baking for Margaret.
Several weeks ago, Margaret passed away. My neighbor since August 1999 when I moved to the house right across from hers and Bill’s, her husband (who passed a few years ago.) As was her wish, she died at home–her beloved family surrounding her. I’m baking something for tomorrow’s after-gathering at her home made with the last harvest of her backyard berries.
[Big heart emoji goes here].
My Mother’s name is Margaret. Old(er) Lady neighbors are the best. Thank you Margaret! Peace Be With All Who Knew Her.
So sorry for your loss. What a wonderful pie to take!
Oh, Kate, I am so sorry. It sounds like Margaret was a wonderful friend and neighbor. I am sure you all will feel a deep loss. I know you have been a wonderful friend to her and how special that you will be baking with the last of her berries in her honor. Blessings and hugs coming your way.
She will be remembered every time you bake something in her name.
So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing.
Margaret was such a sweet lady and I’m glad I knew her. She would come up the street with Bill so he and Kerry could talk fishing. Always a bright shining light.

Fare thee well, Dear Sweet Margaret.
Such a sweet gesture Kate. I’m sorry to hear this but her memory will live on in your pies. ❤️
You’re baking and the thoughts of your memory of her, honor her life and your friendship with her. So very therapeutic and a lovely tribute to her. So sorry for your loss and the ending of her life, but not the memories of Margaret.
Aww – that’s so touching. I love that you will be using berries from her garden.
So kind! The Shaffer’s send our deepest condolences to her family and friends🙏🏻 Enjoy each other and all the treats she loved to eat.
My heart reaches out to you and your neighbors at this difficult time. May memories of Margaret always shine.
So sweet – in every way possible!
Love and kindness to all!
