Baking for Margaret

07/29/2021 By Kate McDermott-Art of the Pie 17 Comments

Today I’m baking for Margaret.

Several weeks ago, Margaret passed away. My neighbor since August 1999 when I moved to the house right across from hers and Bill’s, her husband (who passed a few years ago.) As was her wish, she died at home–her beloved family surrounding her. I’m baking something for tomorrow’s after-gathering at her home made with the last harvest of her backyard berries.

Oh, Kate, I am so sorry. It sounds like Margaret was a wonderful friend and neighbor. I am sure you all will feel a deep loss. I know you have been a wonderful friend to her and how special that you will be baking with the last of her berries in her honor. Blessings and hugs coming your way.

Margaret was such a sweet lady and I’m glad I knew her. She would come up the street with Bill so he and Kerry could talk fishing. Always a bright shining light.

You’re baking and the thoughts of your memory of her, honor her life and your friendship with her. So very therapeutic and a lovely tribute to her. So sorry for your loss and the ending of her life, but not the memories of Margaret.
