Bonjour et Allô

11/08/2011 By Kate McDermott-Art of the Pie 6 Comments

I’m in France! Is this a dream? Pinch me someone. I’m here, I’m really here! I left chilly gray Seattle yesterday morning with my little pink suitcase and now I’m sitting waiting in the Air France lounge in Paris waiting for my next flight to Toulouse.

Leaving Seattle for France.

It’s just as gray here, too. Looks like winter is setting in. Perfect weather for baking and making cassoulet!

The food on the plane was the best I’ve had for air-“fare” and it started out with a glass of champagne. It seemed like every two hours or so there was another meal, or little something to keep our energy and spirits up…as if one’s spirits need to be kept up when at the start of a dream come true.

I saved miles for 20 years to fly Business Class. It was worth the wait!

And my first view of France as we broke through the clouds.

Paris...hmmm...kinda looks like Seattle!

Next: A flight to Toulouse where Kate Hill will pick me up this afternoon. Are we having fun yet?

Oh Kate – I am so excited for you! We too are flying business class on Monday and I can’t wait! I love Blagnac airport as it brings back memories of arriving to see friends. Enjoy every second and I can’t wait to follow along!
    xx

HI Kim- Not quite 24 hours at Kate Hill’s and I feel that I was born to be here!

LOL – Kate, obviously I’m going to have to fly Business Class from here on out – the food looks delicious!!! Yelm is sunny and in the 50’s today – just so you know what’s going on back home! Have a grand time, thinking of you!

Hi Pam-It is so worth it! During my layover in Paris, I was offered the use of one of the showers in Air France’s business class lounge. Made ALL the difference in the rest of my day.

Oh, Kate. I love this post. And the one before. My life followed a similar path, and last year I finally quit working & used all my miles to “fly up front” to Italy for 3 weeks for what I termed the Saving Myself Tour. Then I went to Cambodia, and this year back to Italy.

I will follow your trip avidly, as I know you will be having the best time. I hope to meet Kate next year myself.

Be warned: once the travel bug gets you, it bites hard!

Hi Sharon-I think…let me rephrase that…I KNOW that the travel bug just bit me…very hard!
