Cinco de Pie-O
I know, I know. It’s corny as all get out but I simply cannot resist. Tomorrow is Cinco de Pie-O. It’s this pie maker’s Alt-Cinco-de-Mayo and you can bet I’ll be celebrating.
Tonight I’m slicing up as thinly as I possibly can some exquisite Meyer lemons sent to me by a pie sister in California. When you receive an offer for some home grown citrus from the central coast, I’m the first one to say YES. These beauties arrived in a postal express box…dozens and dozens of them.
Right now I’m in Meyer lemon heaven. I’ll turn them into a Shaker Lemon Pie and and my grandmother’s Queen of Lemon Meringue Pie, too. Then I’ll be serving them up at Pie Camp which starts appropriately on…can you guess?
On Cinco de Pie-O!
Pie makers from all across the country are joining me for three wonderful days of intensive pastry and pie making, both savory and sweet and lots of fun!
And you? What will you be doing to celebrate the holiday? Making a pie perhaps?
And even though this isn’t a Star Trek thing…I think today Spock would say,
“May the 4th be with you.”
I love Shaker Lemon Pie. I live in Southern California, and you can’t keep up with the lemons.
How does one get to be in one of your pie workshops? Looks like they fill up in nanoseconds.
I grew up in Santa Barbara when lemon orchards were everywhere. Now they are all gone. 😥
I’ll be putting up some new dates for workshops at Pie Cottage soon and I hope to be making my annual trek “home” to SB in the first half of 2018. I’ll offer at least one workshop while there. 😊
