Countdown to Thanksgiving
It’s the countdown to Thanksgiving. Tomorrow I will begin my holiday pie prep in earnest. I’m going to a Thanksgiving day potluck that has been going on for over thirty-five years. I’ll be baking up cranberry, coconut cream, pumpkin, and, Shaker lemon, and Duncan will be making some Brussels sprouts as one of the sides. To get a jump on shopping, I headed to the stores yesterday so I would have the supplies needed and avoid the last minute crowds. It seems that I wasn’t the only one with that idea. The lines, although not overly lengthy, were slower than they usually are for a Monday morning.
I thought I’d be back home by noon but ran into at least five friends, some of whom I hadn’t seen for quite a time, so a few chats were in order. I was having an especially nice catch up at my local farm store with the farmer’s wife, when I looked over my shoulder too see this chalkboard pie art across from the apple bins. I think it’s the perfect sentiment for the season.
Thanksgiving morning at 6AM CST, I’ll be live on Wisconsin Public Radio talking pie and answering questions. Hopefully I’ll be coherent! A few hours after the show, the full audio will show up here. Then if I’m smart, I’ll head back to bed to catch a few more winks before I bake off my own pies. 😉
