My Eastern Washington Weekend
Today I’d like to share with you some pictures from a lovely trip I had this weekend to Eastern Washington. After taking Greta-pie to her B&B, it’s time head to Seattle for my Walla Walla flight. My dear friend, Robin Leventhal picks me up for our girls weekend. After seeing her new digs and a bit of visiting it’s off to sleep. The next morning with coffee mug in hand, I enjoy a bit of quiet in Robin’s beautiful garden accompanied by her two adorable kitties.
Flowers, berries, and bees abound…
Then on to Pullman, a two hour drive. On the way I see Eastern Washington’s climate and terrain, so dramatically different than Western Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. There’s a rhythm and melody to it. Can you hear it?
I am going to Lentilfest 2014, a two-day festival was full of fun, food, music and an occasional cloudburst or two! The parade alone was small town Americana at its best.

My son had an exact model of this Farmall Tractor to play with in his sand box.

“Tasty”, The Lentil. The kids LOVE him…or is it a her?
Here’s Robin stirring a 500 gallon pot of Lentil Chili!
And giving a chef demonstration…
The tour of the Washington State University Organic Farm is another highlight of the day.
Sunflowers…
Quinoa trials…
U-Pick flower garden…
Big Squash…
And a hard working ladybug on a quinoa flower.
Have you ever wondered what footwear a farmer wears?
Farmer Brad shows off his Nash’s Farm Store fashion wear from Sequim, right near where I live.
Then back to Walla Walla with a few stops for antiquing along the way…
I couldn’t resist this shot. We made a detour across the highway to get it!
A very early morning flight the next day watching the sun rise along the way…
A 2 hour drive from Seattle to swoop up my sweet girl, Greta-pie…
And, home again, home again, jiggity jig!

Safe travels to you all…and may the road rise to meet you!
What a wonderful trip. Your photo gallery is so beautiful and reflect what a great time and artistic eye you have!
Thank you, Robin! Coming from you I take that as a huge compliment.
What a lovely trip! Your photos and descriptions just wonderful too Kate 🙂
Thank you, Wendy! I hope some day that pie will bring me to Florida.
