Greater and Lesser Blessings
I am very blessed in my life…both with ups and downs. I’ve taken to calling them greater and lesser blessings. I know that when I’m in a period where things are going really well, to breath, laugh, and enjoy the ride because it isn’t permanent. On the flip side of the coin, through my decades of living I’ve learned that a rough patch won’t be permanent either…unless I want it to be. We’ve all been there a time or two I bet. Yes?
Yesterday I spent down on my hands and knees, not exactly praying but washing the floor. It was an active mediation of sorts. With breaks to visit with my best friend who lives right across the street, enjoying some time outdoors with Gretapie, and answering a few emails and phone calls, it took all day. When I finished and everything was neatly put away, I headed up the block for a potluck with my home girls, many of whom I’ve known for nearly 30 years. We share our joys and sorrows, our successes and our failures…our greater and lesser blessings.
I am grateful for all the wonderful things that are going on in my life right now. Each day brings some new opportunity, something new to learn, meeting the perfect person at the exact right time, a check that shows up at the same time as a major bill and they cancel each other out magically. How does this happen? The universe, the great spirit, the goddess of flowing abundance…I have no idea, but I am grateful for whatever or whomever makes it happen.
Let today be another wonderful day with the promise of tiny miracles in everything we do and in every person we encounter. May yours be abundantly blessed with serenity and happiness.
