Head Wear
When I bake, I do not like getting hair in my work. Inevitably it does on occasion happen to all of us, but seeing a hair in a filling or dough does not spark joy in my life in any way. Those who have been to Pie Camp will recall that I cover my hair before I start.
This is something you might not think too much about, but you, or someone you know who is a baker or cook, might like one of these as a tidy little gift. I like these. They come in lots of different colors, and aren’t as tight as some of the other brands on the market. They are lightweight, too, which is nice in a hot kitchen.
Right now, I’m in a grow-my-hair-long stage, which I do every once in a while. My grandmom and mom would probably shudder and tell me that at this age a lady should have short hair. Oh well. I’m enjoying remembering what it is like to have long hair. For baking and cooking, I braid it, too. It’s one more way to keep casual strays out of my work. There are tons of choices of different hair ties, too.
OK, now I’m heading back to the book three edits.
Imagine my horror as I stared at a long hair hanging from the ladle while I was canning jam! This got me to make darn sure every hair on my head was wrapped up tightly, summer heat or no. I think I will try one of those scarfs, they look prettier than the ratty bandanas I have been using!
I know the feeling!
Kate, I always cover my hair, too, when I cook and bake. I like plain old bandannas (lots of colors and patterns) or the fancier Buffs. Have a great weekend.
Bandanas and Buffs…sounds like a song. 😉
Sorry if I missed it but I don’t see the link to the scarf you use.
Hi Vicki, I’m not sure if the exact one that I am wearing in the photo is available (it actually was a gift someone presented me) but there are many others to choose from in the link that is in the blog post. Do you see the link in the blogpost?
