Ireland Days #5-6
This is Fluffy, a harbor cat who lives in Portmagee. I think Fluffy sees a lot of travelers pass this way. He knows how to strike a pose.
I board a small boat with ten others to visit The Skelligs. I hope to be able to walk the more than 600 steps to see the stone huts at the top of Little Skellig but it will be mid-May before visitors are allowed to set foot on it, and then only if weather permits. The view of dramatic crags rising out of the sea will do for today, plus the seal and gannett communities on the larger Skellig Michael.
Then it’s back to Portmagee. Fluffy is out of site, perhaps taking a nap. I do spy a brick of my favorite butter in the little store.
The rest of the afternoon is spent on Valencia Island where my eye sees doors, windows, and the ever present rocks.
Day 6 is a drive day. The road is feeling less narrow as I leave the southwest, stopping at Kerry Woolen Mill Shop along the way.
An old mill part making a nice wall accent.
To be continued…
