Oh my! Who would have thought…

05/23/2009 By Kate McDermott-Art of the Pie Leave a Comment

katesg_webOh my! Who would have ever thought that a passion for teaching and baking would have led to starting a blog and a year long seasonal pie class schedule.

Such fun!

This is my first blog entry and I’d like to dedicate the Art of the Pie blog, to all those growers who are bringing back the wonderful heirloom apples that have been absent for much too long.

I’d like to also thank Dorie Greenspan, Toni Allegra, Rebekah Denn, Kim O’Donnel, Jill Lightner, Poppy Tooker, Greg Atkinson, Kevin Davis, Alicia Arter, Ruth Reichl and so many others for their inspiration and encouragement both in starting a blog and following my passion for baking.

And, finally a heartfelt thanks to my wonderful son Duncan, the apple of my eye, who knows that in our kitchen, “It’s Always Apple Pie Time!’
