Preparing
A word that takes on so many meanings. Preparing for life, love, travel, dreams, creativity, aging, fear, the beyond. I think about these things a lot. They don’t stop me from continuing on my path…wherever it leads. I’ve never had a plan. I often feel that we see a glimpse of our life as we take a first breath…just before it explodes like a colorful starburst into a gazillion pieces;
A gift of my own very personal and very perfect puzzle with seemingly random puzzle pieces that I place back together, forming a picture, that, when complete, I will see for one brief moment with my last breath. The corner pieces are anchors. My children fit in as big corner pieces, and are surrounded by flowers from my many gardens.
Two small pieces to place in:
A long time friend and I make a pie together. It is wonderful having another capable pair of hands in the kitchen who adroitly use a rubber spatula as I tilt the pan of an experiment. Did you know that boiled cider can cook down so much it becomes apple caramel candy? Experiments are where the learning takes place.
The flowering currant is buzzing with bees. My white comforter is airing out in the spring sunshine. I’ll fluff it, and have clean sheets tonight, too.
Love to read your thoughts and that garden..! Wow. Here in Reno the daffodils are just now peaking open and there are beautiful purple hyacinths lining the walkway. Tulip leaves are up and searching for sun and promise an amazing display of colors.
Re facebook — my daughter suggested taking it off of my phone. Wow..that made quite a difference. I have to “sign-in” to get there on my computer which has resulted in many fewer visits. Like you, I have gained time to just “be”. Take care Kate.
Time is sacred. I like it so much more when it supports and nourishes me. Happy Spring to you in Reno, Dianne. xo
Your yard is beautiful, Kate! Thank you for posting.
Thank you so much Margery, and it was great to see you this week and catch up a bit. K
I am thinking of you, Kate.
You are a grand girl. I wish safe travels and a safe vacation in Ireland.
I believe the weather will be somewhat sunny, and there are beautiful flowers and scenery for you to enjoy. I have been listening to Irish tenors singing beautiful old hymns on videos. If you plan to walk a lot, you might find a walking stick helpful. Three of us went to Southern Ireland in September 2018. I would like to go for another visit.
Warm wishes Barbara
Dearest Barbara- My walking stick is ready and I’m looking forward to seeing some Irish gardens, too. xo Kate
