Rinse and Repeat
I’ve been glued to the computer screen for what seems like months. Writing, writing, writing. Editing, editing, editing. Rinse and repeat. I’m so close to the due date for the manuscript for book two, I can almost taste it.
Today I finished reading through the stories and recipe header notes again. As many times as I do, I still find little things; a space out of place, a word misspelled or used incorrectly. Hear here! You remember there, their, they’re, right? I dance around sentences. Would this phrase be better placed at the beginning, the middle, the end…not at all. Less is more right? Rinse and repeat.
I chat with Andrew on the phone. Our fingers are tired from texting. I jokingly tell him that if he finds me a seat for Hamilton, I’ll be on the next plane to come make the last recipes for the photo shoot in NY. He laughs. I say, I can do that. He says, I know you can.
For now, I’m here. Editing, editing, editing. Tomorrow, I’ll rinse and repeat. But, for this day…it is enough.
Brava!
Can’t wait for the next book!
Merry Christmas to you and those you hold dear!
Thank you so much, Diana. I can’t wait either! I’m going to try and take a little winter holiday break for a few days. I hope yours are full of good cheer.
I have been waiting since you said you were writing a second book. I am sure it will be as good or better than “The Art of Pie”. Just breath
Thank you for your vote of confidence, Diana. The stories in this next one a pretty personal…more about my life. I hope it earns a place on your cookbook shelf with the others you have cooked from for so many years. 🙂
The stories behind the recipes make for favorite cookbooks. The headings add tremendous interest.
Thank you for persevering.
Thanks for checking in, Aretha. I hope these personal stories about my life will speak to readers.
I am in love , yes I do hug , The Art of Pie. Just made the pear and cranberry pie, yum!
I taught Family Consumer Science on a high school level. So I would have my students make a pie . Basically do pie crust and a can of filling. We were so limited on time, 42 min per class. Then I baked pies all day and kids picked up their pie to take home to family. 80 plus pies a day. They were not award winning pies…..some I thought “oh no”.
But I will remember the look of pride and accomplishment on my students faces. I would hear how their families said it was the best pie ever. I always told my students “you can make a pie, you are good to go. You can make anything”. Every now and then I hear from former students….they tell me they are baking!
I think you book brings back those memories for me, so thank you. I look forward to your next book. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for sharing these sweet thoughts. I must tell that when I was reading your story, I had a déjà vu. And I so agree that if you can make pie, you can do anything. It’s easy!
