This is NOT Cherry Pie
Driving north yesterday, I stop for tea in the town of Kilrush at The Buttermarket Cafe. Walking in the door of the cheerful little spot, I know it’s the perfect place for a break in the day. While in the middle of a conversation with a local, I hear the ding of an email alert. I see it is from my dear friend Maggie, and the subject is “Cherry Pie.” I open it up thinking it might be a photo of her latest creation, but am stunned to read the words of an AP article of which she has sent a photo. This is NOT cherry pie, and I am speechless.
25% cherries by weight does NOT a cherry pie make…in my experience at least. A cherry pie, should be made with a filling FULL and brimming with real cherries. Fillers, stabilizers, artificial flavorings, which are found in store bought frozen pies are no substitute for the real thing. A cherry pie made with just 25% cherries? Perish the thought.
Here’s the link to the article.
*One more thing. Tedious as it is, I am getting rather good at one finger typing, photo editing, and such on my iPhone, but will be more than happy to return to a regular keyboard and screen when I return. 😉
Cherry pie is now deregulated.
