What? No Rolling Pin?

02/11/2011 By Kate McDermott-Art of the Pie 3 Comments

I’m packing for my week in Santa Barbara.

I checked the online weather report which says there will be some Seattle-style weather; rain and cool nights. So along with my comfy clothes and favorite sweater I’m bringing my rain jacket and a warm knit hat.

A yellow pad & pen is tucked away in my bag and my computer will get loaded in tomorrow morning.

Whoa! I just realized that I didn’t pack my rolling pin and it is the first thing that goes into my bag….always!

What might this mean?

I’m so glad I found your blog. I asked for and was gifted a quart of ‘fresh from the farm’ lard last Christmas. I don’t know if it is all from fat around the kidneys, but I do know it has to be better than what we find in the grocery store.
I’ve been experimenting with lard pie crust recipes. So glad to find yours. I’ll report back after I try your method.
Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge!
